Hello every one, my name is Adjoa and i am from west Africa, Ghana. I live in Kumasi, a major city in the Asante region of Ghana. This is basically my introductory post as I am a novice at this.
Adjoa, as you may or may not know is a Ghanaian name. It is one of the names of the week given to kids who are born according to the days of the week. if you are a bit confused, don’t worry, I will explain.
In Ghana, children are named according to the day of the week they are born in. Every tribe has their unique ways of naming with some similarities. For the purpose of this discussion we will look at the Akan tribe which is the biggest tribe in Ghana hence the most common example of this tradition.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to go into much details on this post as I still have some work to do. However, I will see you in my next post where I will hopefully explain this wonderful tradition to you.
